Asbestos Testing Services Toronto
What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a mineral containing strong, durable fire resistant fibers with excellent insulating properties. Because of these unique properties, Asbestos has been used in a variety of manufacturing applications and materials that can still be found in homes, buildings and manufacturing facilities today, especially those built in Toronto, Ontario before 1981.
Although the use of asbestos has dropped dramatically in recent years, its past use, mostly as an insulating material in homes and buildings, means that it continues to pose a potential health hazard to Ontario home owners and employees residing in older buildings .
In fact, a recent article in the Toronto Star recently referred to Asbestos as ‘The hidden epidemic,’ stating that “Long latency period for cancers caused by asbestos means many patients don't make the connection.”

Asbestos Removal
Asbestos is most hazardous when it becomes airborne, and is most likely to become airborne when it is exposed and friable – crumbling or flaking. The Environmental Protection Agency suggests leaving asbestos alone until, or unless, it becomes friable. Should this be the case, contact qualified asbestos professionals immediately.
